"Meeting the Challenge – Supporting Christian Education”

The Cornerstone Fund – Annual Gift Giving

The Cornerstone Fund is the annual gift giving program at Metrolina Christian Academy.  It is the one program each year that parents and friends of the school are greatly encouraged to give to financially.  The funds raised through the Cornerstone Fund are used for a variety of academic and extracurricular programs that directly impact student development and achievement.  Gifts made to the Cornerstone Fund help ensure that MCA continues providing an environment where our students are challenged academically and equipped spiritually to prepare for the lives God has chosen for them.  Metrolina Christian Academy, as a ministry of First Baptist Church, is a 501©(3) non-profit organization; all gifts are tax-deductible.

Gifts In-Kind

A gift in-kind is typically a product or service donated to Metrolina Christian Academy to help further its educational mission.  Gifts in-kind can include, but are not limited to, new (or nearly new) computers and printers, athletic equipment, books for the library, new (or gently used) musical instruments, construction materials, and services such as, landscaping, painting, etc.

Planned Giving

Planned giving includes a variety of philanthropic strategies that help you provide for Metrolina Christian Academy while also advancing your own financial and personal objectives.  Making a planned gift is a special way to support MCA.  It allows the donor to make a major commitment now, yet also retain use of the funds or property.  MCA would receive the benefit of the gift at some point following the lifetime of the donor.  Several planned giving options are available – from a simple bequest included in one’s will to more sophisticated forms, such as deferred charitable gift annuities, life income gifts, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, gifts of life insurance, and many others.  We strongly recommend you consult with your attorney or tax advisor as you research the most appropriate way to remember MCA in your will or estate plans.

Capital Campaign

A capital campaign provides a separate, special single purpose goal for a gift (i.e., raising funds for athletic fields/facilities for Metrolina Christian Academy).  The campaign is conducted by Metrolina Christian Academy for a specific time period to raise funds to accomplish the stated purpose.  This type of giving would usually be in addition to a donor’s annual gift.

Designated Gifts

A designated gift is a gift received from a donor who supports Metrolina Christian Academy and wants his/her gift to be used for a specific designated purpose at the school (i.e., varsity girls' basketball, art department, missions team, etc.)

Memorial Gifts

A memorial gift is a contribution to Metrolina Christian Academy made by a donor in memory of a loved one or friend who is deceased.

Honorarium Gifts

An honorarium gift is another way to pay tribute to someone by making a contribution to Metrolina Christian Academy in his or her honor.

If you have additional questions or would like more information about giving opportunities at Metrolina Christian Academy, please contact Dana Bostic at (704) 882-3375, ext. 103 or via e-mail at dana.bostic@fbcit.org.

All non-cash and/or restricted gifts should be discussed in advance with the development office.  We offer advice and provide documentation for all charitable gifts.  You should consult tax, legal and financial advisors, however, to determine the tax implications and deductibility of any gift.
