Bear One Another's Burdens
I look at the calendar and find it hard to believe that we are about halfway through the school year. We began our 20th year with a theme of "One Heart, One God, and One Mission." As we begin the second half of the year, I am praying that God would allow us to live out the idea of having "One Heart" for Him so that we might bring Him glory.
One of the ways in which God wants us to bring Him glory is by helping others and lifting others up. Ezekiel 36:26-27 declares: "I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit will I put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules."
Having a personal relationship with Jesus is not about praying a prayer and then going on to live anyway we want. Instead, when we invite Christ to be our Lord and Savior He radically transforms us. He places His Spirit in us as these verses declare and gives us new direction and purpose for living.
Part of that purpose is to help others that we come in contact with who are broken and hurting. Galatians 6:1 tells us to "Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." God commands us to lift up those who are hurting and seek to make a difference in their lives for the Kingdom. Only God has the power to transform lives but as we love others and give them the Word of God I am convinced that we will see God do miraculous things in the lives of others.
I read something that Frances Chan wrote recently that stirred my heart. He stated: "Until you and every person in your church are actively ministering to the people around you, your area will not have an accurate picture of what the church was created to be."
Over the years, I have seen God bring our school community together in such powerful ways to minister to others. Would you join me and the staff of MCA in committing as never before to actively ministering to those around us? I pray that our community will see in our actions what the church was created to be. Our world desperately needs to see those who have this new heart living it out loud.
I pray that we will all use our school's prayer ministry to share our burdens and give each of us an opportunity to pray for you. Also, I want to let you know as part of our family that if you are hurting today then we are here to help you in other ways besides prayer if you need us.
