The Pursuit of Excellence at MCA
“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.” Vince Lombardi
The heart and soul of our staff here at MCA is to be excellent in all we do. This desire and the work that complements it is rooted in our goal to bring honor and glory to God and not to ourselves. As a school, we must continually chase excellence so that we might honor God with our best efforts. We also believe that our school has a high calling to make a difference in the lives of our students both academically and spiritually. In keeping with that, I want to share with you some things we are working on that will help us achieve our mission.
The pursuit of excellence begins with our spiritual focus. To be excellent here, we are committed to doing all we can to help our students not only own their faith but also to learn to live with a Biblical worldview. In order to accomplish these two main objectives, we will work to continually improve chapel programs, Bible classes, worldview training, leadership training, and service opportunities. What are some specific improvements in these areas for next year?
We will begin partnering with Student Leadership University to enhance our students’ leadership skills that will ultimately give them an incredible head start when they head off to college. SLU is one of the premier student leadership training organizations in the country.
Also, we will continue to expand our worldview training opportunities so that our students will be well prepared to defend their faith and give “every person who asks a reason for the hope within them.”
Academic and Extracurricular Focus
Our pursuit of excellence includes our academic programs. First, we will continue to enhance our Fine Arts Program through the addition of elective classes in music and drama. Next, we will continue the expansion of our foreign language program throughout all grade levels. Additionally, we will expand our technology focus as a part of a STEM initiative. We will increase iPad Labs, technology integration in the classrooms, and introduce new electives such as Robotics. We will also begin certifying our high school students in technology through the widely recognized IC3 Certification program. We will increase dual and concurrent enrollment classes next year. These are just a few program improvements planned.
In extracurricular programs, we will continue to enhance our athletic and performing arts opportunities and facilities.
We are working towards breaking ground on the Limitless Building Campaign Phases Two and Three in the next two years. It is our desire to get these building projects off the ground and begin to remove modular buildings.
Finally, we are committed as a school to pursuing excellence and doing all we can to ensure that our students are spiritually and academically prepared to more than meet the challenges of the 21st century. Our focus is best described by Colossians 3:23 which says: “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
