“For it is time to seek the Lord.” Hosea 10:12
A mulligan is a practice sometimes used in golf that provides an opportunity for a do over. In other words, you can use a “mulligan” to hit a shot to replace one that you do not like. In professional golf, mulligans are not allowed and therefore every shot counts. This probably explains why when you watch professional golfers they take an extraordinary amount of time over each and every shot.
Real life does not provide us with mulligans either. The daily decisions we make count and have an effect on who we become and how our lives unfold. The same holds true for society as a whole. In the 1960’s, our country enacted laws that removed God from the schools, government institutions, and more. During this same time, we saw decisions made by our country that have caused us to devalue human life.
All of these decisions have consequences. The decision to remove or marginalize God from our daily lives has changed the way our society thinks and lives. We no longer have a majority of people who believe in absolute truth. We have school systems wrought with violence and other behavioral issues. In recent days, the removal of a biblical worldview from our society has worked to dismantle the traditional family. Our culture has subtly moved so far away from God over the years to bring us to where we are today.
As the prophet Hosea declared above, I believe it is once again “time to seek the Lord” as never before. It is time for us to commit ourselves as Christians to making everything we do on a daily basis count for the Lord.
With that in mind, our theme for this school year is “Make It Count” with the theme verse being Hosea 10:12. After much prayer, our administrative team feels directed by God to lead our students, staff, and families this school year with the focus of making everything we do count for the glory of God!
It is our heart's desire that every decision, every class, every athletic contest, every fine arts performance, and everything we do count in making a difference in the lives of others for the cause of Christ. More than ever, we want to lead our students into a dynamic, daily walk with Christ so that they will realize that every decision and every action counts.
Our world desperately needs Christians who live passionately for Jesus and exhibit the difference only He can make in a life. As bad as the culture can be, I still have hope that God wants to use our students, staff, and families for “such a time as this” to impact this world for Christ.
Will you join us in seeking the Lord this year with all of our hearts, souls, and minds? I also ask that you pray for our faculty and staff this year as we lead our precious students in chasing hard after God!
I pray that all of our families have had a great summer making memories together. We are excited that in just over a week our halls will once again be filled with students. We have prayed and worked hard as a faculty and staff to prepare for a great 2016-2017 school year.
As you will quickly see, Phase 2 of the Limitless Building Campaign is under construction. This new classroom building should be complete before Thanksgiving and ready to occupy. This building will house our visual art classes as well as other high school classes.
The Limitless Building Campaign will continue to call upon God to move on His people so that we can not only pay off Phase 2 but also begin the work on Phase 3 which will be a new addition to our Family Life Center which will house our Performing Arts and Student Life Center. I ask that you pray about how might give to help accomplish these projects.
As well, our new outdoor physical education space is now complete and ready for use this school year. This fields will not only provide us great playing fields for physical education but also serve as a beautiful starting point for our Cross Country course. These fields and outdoor recreation areas are located in the back of our parking lot behind the school office. I hope you will stop by and check out this new addition to our campus.
We have an incredible school year planned with many school improvements. For one, many new electives have been added to our high school schedule. These electives include new college course offerings, technology offerings, and more. Also, foreign language has been added all the way through our lower school program.
I am also very excited about our staff for 2016-2017 as we have added several great new additions to our wonderful staff. Our enrollment growth has enabled us to add several teachers to facilitate new classes. I look forward to you meeting our new staff members.
In addition, we have planned one of the most exciting chapel schedules in our history with great speakers such as Brent Crowe and Sean McDowell who will be with us this year. I invite you to join us for chapel this year as it is truly the highlight of our week.
Will you begin praying now for our school to experience God as never before? Metrolina is truly a distinctive Christian school and we desire to be forever about asking God to do what only He can do in our midst and when He does that we will be careful to give Him all the glory! God has big things in store for us this school year and I look forward to seeing you soon at Orientation. Go Warriors!
