History of MCA

In 1992 a number of Christian parents at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail (FBCIT) saw the need for Christian education for children, The church, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Mike Whitson, stepped out in faith and launched Metrolina Christian Academy (MCA). Since that beginning, MCA has grown to be the second largest Christian school in North Carolina. MCA has grown in student enrollment 23 out of the last 24 years.

MCA has a rich tradition of challenging its students academically and equipping them spiritually to lead the lives God has chosen for them. Using a curriculum that is integrated with the Word of God, MCA maintains high academic standards. MCA students consistently score above the national average on the SAT and ACT each year. Great emphasis is given to both the spiritual and academic formation of each student. The highlight of each week is our chapel services. There have been over 2500 salvations at MCA in the past thirty years.

Metrolina Christian Academy alumni are flourishing in their chosen universities and professions, standing firm in their faith. Our alumni base has grown to over 1000 young men and women. The first graduating class, the Class of 2000, had nine graduates and the Class of 2022 produced 93 graduates.

At MCA, we are committed to enhancing and pursuing college-preparatory programs and looking to the future for our students, our campus, and our building opportunities. More importantly, we are passionately committed to train this generation to have a close relationship with Our Creator and to grasp the importance of having a Biblical worldview.
