MCA’s Lower School provides each child with opportunities to explore the world of ideas that God has created for them while being encouraged in a loving and Christ-centered atmosphere. Teachers are committed to understanding the design of each child so they can adequately prepare the instructional strategies to meet individual learning styles. Noteworthy:

  • Metrolina Christian Academy’s Lower School division serves students in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

  • K – 4th grade learn in self-contained classrooms while fifth grade utilizes a team-teaching approach.

  • Average Class Size:

    • 1:16  (K)

    • 1:21 (1st – 5th)

    • K – 2nd grade classrooms have teacher assistants supporting them throughout the day.

  • Special events in the Lower School calendar are Missions Week, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Celebration, Grandparents’ Day, and Field Day to name just a few.

  • The Academic Support Program provides tiered levels of student support.

  • Learning Enrichment Activities Program (LEAP) is designed to challenge gifted learners.

  • The IOWA achievement test and Cognitive Abilities Test are administered in the spring of each year.

Teach to Equip

Teach to Equip is MCA's strategic and intentional plan to equip students with a Biblical Worldview through the curriculum utilized, instructional methodology implemented, and professional development training provided to instructional staff. Teach to Equip includes professional development, which is designed to foster and promote growth, improvement, learning in the areas of curriculum, instructional methods, assessments, social and emotional learning, and biblical integration.
