Dual Credit Courses
At MCA, we partner with South Piedmont Community College to offer dual enrollment and concurrent enrollment courses through North Carolina's Career and College Promise Program. We carefully select courses for our students that we know will transfer to nearly all four year institutions*. In order to be eligible to take courses through SPCC, a student must be a junior or senior, carry a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and have PSAT/SAT/ACT scores that meet the college readiness criteria set by the state of North Carolina. The eligiblity criteria for the Career and College Promise program can be found on page two of this SPCC document: Career & College Promise.
Students can choose to take courses offered at MCA that are taught by our teachers, also contracted as adjunct professors through South Piedmont Community College, or they can also choose to take online courses taught by an offsite instructor. Online courses require students to work independently to complete the coursework. Students have the ability to earn up to 18 credit hours per year in the Career and College Promise Program. Note: tuition is free - books, lab fees and other materials must be paid by the student.
If you have questions about this program, please contact Lisa Shields.
*Articulation agreements are set by the state of North Carolina to guarantee transfer credit to 16 public universities and 23 independent schools.
