Senior Parking Spot Painting

Decorate your senior parking space and make it your own for the school year!

No painting allowed on:

  • August 2
  • August 9
  • August 11

If these dates present a conflict, contact Mrs. Ferguson as soon as possible. All spots must be completed before the first day of school.

Step 1: Reserve Your Parking Pass

Before purchasing a painted spot, you must reserve a senior parking pass.

  • Cost: $30

  • Access through Family Portal → School→ Web Forms → Student Driver Application
  • Seniors may pick up their parking passes from Mrs. Ferguson (A104) during orientation.

Note: Students who do not purchase a painted parking space will be assigned a spot by Mr. Vandergrift after school begins.

Step 2: Purchase a Painting Spot

Students who purchase a spot will receive an email with instructions to select their parking spot. Spot selection is first come, first served.
Keep your design in mind when selecting a spot, since you'll need to apply a base coat before painting.

You must submit your design to Mrs. Ferguson by July 31st.

Step 3: Plan your Design and Guidelines

✓ DO

  • Keep designs school-appropriate and aligned with Christian values.
  • Stay within your assigned parking space.
  • Bring your own supplies (paint, brushes, rollers, tape, drop cloths, etc.).
  • Clean up all trash and materials each day.
  • Wear appropriate clothing.
  • Respect others' spaces and work areas.
  • Finish by the deadline.

✗ DON'T

  • Use glitter, confetti, or loose materials.
  • Use spray paint (unless specifically approved).
  • Paint curbs, lines, or neighboring spaces.
  • Block traffic or leave supplies overnight in your space including traffic cones. 
  • Include verbiage or graphics celebrating or promoting public figures, influencers, or artists who do not align with our school's core values and code of conduct.
  • Include inappropriate images, language, political statements, or anything inconsistent with MCA and The Church at Indian Trail values.
  • Do not paint if you know it is about to rain. Paint that is not dry can run into someone else's spot. If you destroy someone else's spot please be respectful and offer to fix it. 

Recommended Paint

Use water-based latex exterior paint purchased from:

  • Home Depot
  • Lowe's
  • Sherwin-Williams

Craft paint is not allowed!

A gallon of your base color plus smaller containers for details is typically sufficient.

We recommend you partner up with another student to share the expense of paint.

Pro Tips

  • Paint Supplies: Bring paint trays, rollers, brushes (one per color), and a can opener. A roller extension pole makes painting the background much easier. Store wet brushes in a sealed bag if returning another day.
  • Chalk: Sketch your design and lettering first. Chalk washes away with rain.
  • Painter’s Tape: Use tape to outline your space and design elements. Note that tape can be difficult to remove from pavement tar on the cracks.
  • Broom or Leaf Blower: Clean your parking spot before painting. If using a blower, it must be battery-powered.
  • Paper Towels or Wipes: Painting gets messy—bring something to clean your hands.
  • Towel or Yoga Mat: Makes sitting on the pavement more comfortable.
  • Tent or Canopy: Helpful for shade on hot days.
  • Don't paint if it is raining or about to rain.
