Everybody experiences trials and troubles in this lifetime. During those times, the pressure and stress can be overwhelming. When this happens, most people have someone they run to for advice, encouragement, and hope. If I asked you, most people could give me the name of someone who they run to in times of trouble.

 

But there is another name that is above every other name that we can run to. That name is one that calms the seas and provides hope to the hopeless. I love Proverbs 18:10: “The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to Him and are safe.”

 

Don’t miss the phrase “strong fortress”. The Lord is strong. I am not sure we always live with that idea in mind. He is stronger than anything we will face in this life. I love the song “What a Beautiful Name” by Hillsong Worship. The name of a Jesus is a powerful name.

Jesus is a strong tower. Death and the grave could not hold Him. Nothing can stand against Him! He is indeed a strong tower. Finally, Proverbs 18:10 teaches us also that not only is He a strong tower but those who run to Him will be safe. In His arms, there is safety and peace instead of fear.

 

Child of God, are you tired of being afraid? Are you weary from the battles you are facing? It is time to run to the name above every name. Hold in your mind today that “nothing can stand against Him”!
